Embracing Authenticity
Be authentically you!!! Stop wasting time!
What exactly does it mean to be authentic? Being authentic essentially means staying true to who you are, what you believe, and how you feel, rather than conforming to external pressures or expectations. Now, let’s explore the first part of that definition… If I need to be true to who I am, who am I? How does a person figure out who they are and if they are being truly…, well, that?
That takes a bit of a quest! You have to be willing to put in some work. Press in and figure it out for yourself. An even better idea is to get help with it. I remember when I was very young sitting close to the television one time. There was no remote control so you had to stay close to turn the knob to change the channel. Sitting close though… I couldn’t see the entire picture. Things were kinda pixelated and unclear. The further back away from the TV I got, the more clear things became on the screen It can be that way in our lives. We are so close to it and simply cannot see the clear picture for that reason. Here are some steps to dive deep into your thoughts, feelings, and quirks:
Reflect on Yourself: Grab a journal and ponder your inner musings to unveil your beliefs and motivations.
Get Feedback: Let your pals or mentors spill the beans on your personality for fresh insights.
Try New Things: From skydiving to pottery, experiment away to discover your passions and talents.
Educate Yourself: Dive into psychology and philosophy to decode human behavior and maybe even your own.
Stay Mindful: Zen out with meditation to tune into your instincts and ditch those external pressures.
Seek Help: Therapists and coaches are like personal detectives, helping you uncover your hidden truths.
Walk the Talk: Once you know your values, strut your stuff by aligning your actions with them.
Keep in mind, that the journey of self-discovery is a rollercoaster ride of growth and surprises. Embrace the changes, stay true to yourself, and enjoy the adventure!
The most important part about this is paying attention to what you find out about yourself. Most people are way too damn scared to deep dive and find out who they are without the noise of the freaking world giving them the answers. It can be a bit of an intimidating task. We have all gotten far too comfortable lying to ourselves and believing the lies. Explore, find who you are, then rip that fucking mask off!! Yes, I use words that some consider “bad words” sometimes. That’s who I am.
I don’t know about you but I get so tired of wearing masks. Put this one on for the in-laws, this one for the boss, another for church, and yet one more for friends (which may be different depending on which friends). Don’t judge me and act like you don’t do it! And if you believe you don’t, I have a mountain range in the Texas panhandle I’ll sell you for cheap.
So go get it done!! I’m here to help. I will brag about myself and tell you I am good at what I do.
